Ravens get past Browns, 24-10

The Baltimore Ravens overcame poor red zone execution to pull away from a 24-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.

The Ravens lead just 10-0 at halftime despite finding themselves in the red zone several times in the first half. The team failed to get into the end zone on three separate occasions, and kicker Billy Cundiff missed two of his three field goal attempts.

The Ravens were dominant on the ground, rushing for almost 300 yards. Ray Rice finished with over 200 yards while Ricky Williams added another 76 on the ground.

Baltimore now has just four games remaining and will be the top seed in the playoffs if they can win out.

Webb recovering quickly from ACL tear

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb continues to make a rapid comeback from ACL surgery.

Webb was at the team’s facility all but two days in the offseason in which he attended his grandfather’s funeral.

He estimated that he is able to make football moves at about 60-65 percent but is not trying to rush anything.

At the same time, the fact that he spent so much time working on his knee means he has been pushing the timeline to get back on the field.

He has also worked very hard in the weight room, adding on significant muscle, especially in the chest area.

Ravens open up backup QB battle

The Baltimore Ravens have made it perfectly clear that the backup quarterback job is up for grabs.

The team wants to see Troy Smith and John Beck battle it out for the right to be Joe Flacco’s backup.

Smith said he thinks competition is good for everyone involved because it makes them bettter players and a better team.

He was the team’s backup last year but has angered some folks by demanding a trade late in the 2009 season.

Beck and offensive coordinator Cam Cameron are comfortable from their time in Miami together and he could be the backup quarterback for years to come.

Ravens facing rough slate in 2010

The Baltimore Ravens have their sights set on returning to the playoffs in 2010. To get there, the Ravens will have to navigate a schedule that’s full of tough challenges.

The National Football League has released game times and dates for the 2010 season. Baltimore will play in prime time four times in the upcoming season, beginning with the season opener on Monday Night Football Sept. 13 at the New York Jets.

A visit to Cincinnati is set for week two, followed by the home opener against Cleveland. Baltimore travels to Pittsburgh on Oct. 3, comes back home to face Denver the next week, then journeys to New England to take on the Patriots on Oct. 17. After a home game with Buffalo, the Ravens enjoy the bye week on Oct. 31.

The second half opens with a home contest against Miami on Nov. 7. A quick turnaround awaits: four days later the Ravens play on Thursday Night Football in Atlanta. A road game at Carolina comes next on Nov. 21.

Baltimore plays four home games in the final six contests, beginning with two home contests against Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh, the Steelers’ game a Sunday Night Football matchup on Dec. 5. Another prime-time game comes up next on Dec. 13, a Monday Night Football meeting with Houston on the road. Two of the Ravens’ final three games are at home, Dec. 19 against Super Bowl champion New Orleans and the season finale Jan. 2 vs. Cincinnati, with the road finale Dec. 26 at Cleveland.

Super Bowl champs to visit Ravens in 2010

A visit by the Super Bowl champions highlights a challenging 2010 schedule for the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens face five games against playoff teams, including the defending champion New Orleans Saints.

The National Football League has released its list of home and away games. Dates will be announced later, but the Ravens know who they will play at home and on the road.

Along with the Saints, AFC North champion Cincinnati is the only other playoff team to visit Baltimore this season. The other home games include matchups with AFC North teams Pittsburgh and Cleveland, and games against Buffalo, Miami, Denver and Tampa Bay.

Along with the game at Cincinnati, there are two contests against playoff teams on the road: at AFC runner-up the New York Jets, and at AFC East champion New England. Other road contests include trips to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Atlanta, Houston and Carolina.

According to last year’s opponents’ win percentage, Baltimore’s schedule ranks 12^th-toughest in the league.
